What is culturally specific assessment?

Culturally specific assessment is assessment that (a) supports the (academic) development of individuals, (b) is inclusive of a willingness to nurture and support cultural competence, (c) aims to support the development of a sociopolitical or critical consciousness within students, (d) is focused on constructs and measures of importance to educational practitioners and other key stakeholders, and (e) functions within a system of knowledge that exists within a named worldview (Sul, 2019).
